LTC John Robert Ware II (Ret.) Obituary

John Robert Ware II

Sunrise: May 15, 1943 | Sunset: April 27, 2025

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

With deep love and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of John Robert Ware II, who left this earthly coil on April 27, 2025. A man of strength, integrity, and deep compassion, John lived a life characterized by service, family, and community.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle. He was predeceased by his devoted parents Johnny Ware, Sr. and Margaret Samuel Ware, as well as his beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara Timpton Ware. He and Barbara shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. He is survived by his children: Maurice (Kim), Anthony (Dalaina), and Tselane; and his adored granddaughters: Nina and Sophia (Maurice and Kim), and Aurora (Anthony and Dalaina).

A proud and dedicated member of the Metropolitan Methodist Church of Rome, John lived his faith through action, serving others with humility and dedication. His spiritual commitment extended into his work with several organizations that reflected his values. He was a proud Omega Psi Phi Fraternity brother, a founding member of 100 Black Men of Rome, a Rotarian, and a respected Board Member of countless community organizations and academic institutions. Known throughout the Rome and Floyd County, Georgia communities for his civic leadership and wisdom.

John was a mentor to many and a role model to all. Whether offering a steady hand, a thoughtful word, or simply his presence. He was a wellspring of knowledge and encouragement. His stoic nature and quiet dignity made him a pillar in every circle he entered. People sought his counsel and trusted his word. John was a leader in every organization he joined.

He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unshakable commitment to uplifting others. His impact is etched not only in the hearts of his family but also in the lives of countless individuals who were fortunate enough to be touched by his spirit.

John will be celebrated with an intimate going-home ceremony at 1100 at the Metropolitan Methodist Church of Rome, with a community memorial celebration and repast immediately afterwards at the Joy Life Center at the Lovejoy Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites mourners to donate to the John and Barbara Ware Scholarship Fund at Metropolitan Methodist Church. Alternatively, donations to community organizations in John’s name would be in line with his spirit of service.

* Public viewing will be Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 1200 to 1800 at F. K. Jones Funeral Home and on Monday, May 5, 2025 one hour prior to the Celebration. The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will have an Omega Service for Brother Ware starting at 1800 in Peek Chapel (F. K. Jones Funeral Home).

To the Ware family, we at F. K. Jones Funeral Home, extend to you our deepest sympathy and condolences.

Our prayers remain that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen, and sustain you during your time of bereavement.

Care and Direction entrusted to F. K. Jones Funeral Home Rome Chapel.
