Daren Lamont VanArsdale II was born on September 22, 2005, the Fourth child of Daren and Elisa, their one and only son. Born as Daren but always and forever known and remembered as Monte. Monte was an extraordinary individual whose light shined brightly on everyone he met. His personality was bigger than life itself, and he always left you feeling better than he found you. His impact and legacy will live forever in everyone’s heart. He kept everyone laughing and you could not help but have a great time when in his presence.
Monte attended Hillgrove High School until transferring and graduating from Westlake High School in 2024. He worked at FedEx and had aspirations of becoming a personal trainer working with youth whom he had already started training in basketball and fitness. Monte was a phenomenal athlete and worked very hard at becoming his best self on and off the court. His talents stretched from beyond the arc. Monte loved working out and everything about being in the gym. He was a dawg. Small but mighty. He had the heart of a lion and pushed everyone around him to be better. Monte loved rapping. He loved writing poems and lyrics to his music. We always told him we wished he remembered his schoolwork the way he remembered his lyrics.
He loved spending time with his family. Our family trips were legendary. We had a great time when we were all together and Monte was always the life of the party. He was very close and protective of all of his sisters and loved them dearly. Monte was kind, enthusiastic, sweet, infectious, and loving to his friends, family, and neighbors. Monte has completed his physical time on earth but his spirit will never cease to vicariously live through everybody he loved and who loved him.
Monte loved God and accepted Christ as the leader of all things. As a younger boy, he accepted Christ in youth service. He would go down every Sunday until he learned he only had to accept Christ once. He was so funny and said he just wanted to get another goody bag. As a young man, he was navigating his way through life, which was unfortunately taken from him, however, Monte maximized his 19 years and lived a full life. He left so many memories that will last his family and friends a lifetime.
Monte is survived by his loving parents, Daren and Elisa, his amazing sisters: Laren, Logan, Leah, and London, his grandmother, aunties, and uncles along with a host of cousins and friends who will forever miss him. There are not enough words to express the love we have for you and the love we know you have for us. You are and will always be a bright light in our hearts and thoughts. We love you endlessly. Rest easy Monte.
