Mr. Rory Wooden

Rory Wooden, age 71, of Rome (formerly of Hampton, VA) transitioned December 8, 2025.

Rory was born July 14, 1954, in Richmond, NY to the late Venzola Chamberlin and the late Phillip Wooden.  He graduated from Hampton University with a BSN and found his lifelong career in Nursing.  He was an advocate for learning.  He received certification in Nursing Para legal and certification in Massage Therapist.  He enjoyed football (his favorite team Dallas Cowboys) and fishing.  He had a career in nursing as a traveling nurse where he was able to provide quality care to his patients around the country. 

He was employed by Floyd Hospital (currently Atrium Hospital) where he was able to retire from his nursing career in Rome, GA. 

He was preceded in death by his Parents Venzola Chamberlin and Phillip Wooden and other beloved family members.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories of his beautiful wife Barbara Finley (Wooden), stepdaughters Carmen (Stanley) Jones (Rome), Kimberly Richardson (George Daniels) (Marietta), granddaughters Natasha (Billy Williams) (Woodstock), and Kayla Fain (Atlanta).  Also survived by other cherished family.

We will Celebrate the Life of Mr. Wooden on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11 am at F. K. Jones Funeral Home in Peek Chapel. Interment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Public Viewing for Mr. Wooden will be Friday, December 19, 2025 from 11 am until 6 pm at the Funeral Home and December 20, 2025 prior to the Celebration.
