Alice Elaine Williams was born to the late Jesse and Maxine Williams on September 1, 1952 in Rome, Georgia. As the oldest of five sisters she was a loving, dependable caregiver to her family. After graduating from East Rome High School she worked at Hostess Bakery and later became a faithful employee of the Rome, Georgia branch of the United States Post Office where she retired after twenty-one years of service.
Alice shared a loving bond with the late Mark Smith, Sr., and they parented two children together. Affectionately referred to as Allie by her great nephew Kaleb, Alice was generous and always willing to help. She loved cooking and baking and used this skill as a way to bring family together in fellowship. Her heart and home were always open to family, friends, and anyone wanting a good piece of cake!
She leaves to cherish her memories two children; Tiffany Smith and Mark Smith, Jr.; two adopted sons Marcus Williams and Nicholas Williams; two stepdaughters Bernita Smith and Marci (Jay) Armstrong; seven grandchildren; Noah Smith, Michal Smith, Leia Smith, Nadia Smith, Avery Smith, Grey Armstrong, and Clarke Armstrong; four sisters Kathy (Willis) Gibbons, Janice (Fred) Gibson, Diane Williams, and Pam (Mark) Trimble; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; special friends Bridgett Long, Clementine Slack, Lydia Bezeau, Betty Price, Susie Bryant, Diane Dennis, and Fred Williams.
Alice attended North Rome Church of God where she strengthened her spiritual relationship while making many friends. She was a kind, reserved and special lady who enjoyed riding her Spyder motorcycle, providing for her family and celebrating the holidays.
Alice warmed the hearts of many through her giving spirit and nurturing nature. She will be greatly missed but we can honor her legacy by continuing her virtues of kindness and caring.
